2000 Dec 25 Eclipse,

 from Start to near Maximum

The left image shows the start of the eclipse from San Rafael, CA. The sun had just risen above the horizon in the presence of streaky clouds and lots of smoke or other pollution that gave the sun a very reddish color. About an hour later, the eclipse was at its maximum for this location (38 N, 122.5 W) and the sun was above most of the clouds. The second image is somewhat rotated (note altered angle of sunspot group). Photos on Fuji Provia 400 film, ETX-90 scope, at 07:37 and 08:38 AM PST with Baader solar filter.
