Partial Solar Eclipse

June 10, 2002

On 10 June 2002, an annular solar eclipse occurred over the Pacific Ocean, ending in Central America. It was visible as a partial eclipse in much of  North America. This multiple exposure image was taken at intervals of approximately 12-14 minutes, starting at 5:10 PM PDT and ending at 7:20 PDT. A Nikkor 24-50 mm zoom lens was used at approximately 28 mm, with a Baader Solar Film sun filter and exposures were 1/250 sec at f/8 on Kodak Supra 100 film. The multiple exposure image, which was affected by severe lens flare, was cleaned up in Photoshop and then superimposed on an ordinary exposure of the same landscape, taken without the solar filter.
