Yours truly

Comet hyakutake, big dipper, and airplane

The airplane is passing through the handle of the Big Dipper (which is vertical here) and appears to be pursuing the comet. I was just starting astro-imaging when I took this shot, so neither this image nor the other Hyakutake image does justice to its beauty. I was sorry to hear that Mr. Hyakutake had died in April 2002 at age 51. He will be remembered by all who enjoyed "his" comet.

"I don't care about the naming of the comet. If  many people could enjoy that comet, that is the happiest thing for me."
