African (Cape) Buffalo
The Cape Buffalo is one of the most respected and feared of the African herbivores. It is both fearless and easily irritated. Add in an almost bullet-proof skull and extremely powerful muscles, and you have a dangerous beast. While not as powerful as elephants, buffalo are considerable less mellow, on average, and have been known to kill lions who got too close to their calves.
