Brooks Falls

Here is Brooks Falls, where dozens of bears line up in July to catch the peak salmon migration upstream. There were still a few salmon trying to make it up the falls (but rarely succeeding). The park is well equipped with viewing platforms. Here is the one at the Falls:

and here is the bridge and platform (far left in this shot) at Brooks River where it empties into Naknek Lake:

You can see one bear fishing in the river just below the bridge (look above the copyright symbol --- his head is just below the bridge). The bridge has gates at either end to prevent the bears from using it. (Speciest discrimination!)
