Wild Turkey

Almost comical in his testosterone-charged display, this wild turkey is looking for action! I was on my way home from a day of imaging egrets at the rookery at Audubon Canyon Ranch in Marin County when I saw a few wild turkeys in a pasture. I pulled over and this fellow put on his best display for me. Captured with a Canon 10D digital camera and 100-400 mm Canon L IS lens with a 2x extender for 800 mm focal length, hand-held. Wild turkeys were introduced into California many years ago and have propagated enthusiastically.
