Western Bluebird
(Sialis mexicana)
This beautiful bird appeared in our neighbor's yard in Sonoma in October 2003, where I was able to take several images with my Canon 10D and Canon 70-200 L IS lens. I could not identify it until we got our copy of Sibley's wonderful bird book (The Sibley Guide to Birds), which showed it to be a bluebird, most likely a female.
