Brown Pelicans (Pelicanus occidentalis, subsp californicus)
Above, part of a large flock taking off from the far side of the lagoon. Below, two pelicans flying by from one part of the lagoon to another.
Below, a single pelican cropped out of a larger group. Most of these birds are immatures and none are in breeding plumage. Breeding colors usually appear around December.
