Fall Color In Marin County People are often surprised to find that the west coast does indeed have fall color, even at the lower elevations. Not the dramatic mountainside rainbow color of new England, or the magnificent drifts of aspen one finds in the Sierra above 5 or 6 thousand feet, but dramatic color, nevertheless. Here are a few samples from October-November-December, 2004. (Several images, please scroll down.)
The above images were captured without benefit of camera — I just put the leaves on the platen of the scanner and started it up. The originals are remarkably sharp — click here for a direct view of a tiny area in the center of the right-hand image. The remaining images (below) are taken with my Canon digital camera and Canon lenses.
