White-tailed Kite
(Elanus leucuris)
This is a mature kite, since he or she lacks a buffy color on the head and chest. These hunters have a narrow area of distribution along the west coast and a much broader one in the south-east US. We found this bird in the tree near open fields where rodents were probably numerous.
