Checking out the ice on the bay
This young male is making his daily rounds checking the state of the ice on the bay—the rocks in the foreground are the edge of the shore. Plenty of ice has already formed here by the shore but it's being broken up and pushed into ridges by the tides underneath and in the unfrozen areas just out of sight of the camera. Until the Bay is almost entirely frozen over, the seals won't use breathing holes and the bears will not be able to hunt.
