Elkhorn Slough
Elkhorn Slough is an estuary running inland from Monterey Bay on the Pacific Ocean at Moss Landing, California (between Santa Cruz and Monterey). It has an excellent harbor, which provides docks and space for commercial fishing and a marine research center associated with the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Its extensive mudflats and calm waters provide a home for thousands of sea- and shorebirds as well as sea otters, sea lions, and harbor seals. The FM_NorCal imaging group made an expedition to Elkhorn and chartered the Elkhorn Safari tour boat for morning and afternoon outings on November 3, 2007.
