Wide angle M8, M20, and NGC 6559 Complex,

in Sagittarius

    This wide angle view of the M8 - M20 area of Sagittarius also shows the dimmer nebula NGC 6559 --- to the right (east) of M8. North is downward in this view. Click here for a telescopic view of M8 and M20 on film.

 Scope

 Nikkor 180 mm f/2.8 lens at f/5.6 piggybacked on 1200 GTO mount.  

 Camera: SBIG ST-10XME with Mandel Nikon adapter.  Guiding with internal chip. 

 Exposure

 Above image: 4 frames at 10 min each of H-alpha, R, G, and B with Astrodon filters. 

 Processing 

 Calibrated and combined in MaxIm 4, final processing in PhotoShop.
