Occultation of Venus by the Moon,

17 July 2001

        These images are extracted from a long series of shots during the occultation. I started shooting about 10 minutes before contact, took some time off after disappearance, and then  continued for a few minutes after the reappearance of Venus (the small white dot). Images are oriented as one would see the objects through binoculars.

 Date  17 July 2001; 10:07 AM PDT to 11:45 AM PDT
 Scope  RCOS Ritchey-Chretien 12.5 inch @f6.75 on A-P 1200 GTO mount    
 Exposure  Fuji Superia 400, f6.75 and varied from 1/250 to 1/640 sec 
 Processing   Cropped and stretched in PhotoShop
