Copyright and how to purchase prints Yours truly | M 16 (NGC 6611), The Eagle Nebula, in Serpens
M16, the Eagle Nebula, is famous for a Hubble photograph ("Pillars of Creation") that shows a star-birthing region. This emission nebula lies approximately 7000 lightyears from us. This is a mediocre image but will do as a place-holder. I started work on a CCD image in the summer of 2002 and the first attempt at a luminance image can be seen here. A much more recent wide view, taken with CCD equipment, can be seen here.
