Comet C/2002 C1 (Ikeya-Zhang) 14, 18 March 2002 (Several Images Below) Film Image:
Three superimposed images on Fuji film. The mount was guided on the comet head with an ST-4 guider. Images combined in Photoshop and adjusted with Curves. Grain reduction with SGBNR, an excellent selective blur program. CCD Images
Monochrome mosaic (above). These CCD images were taken on a night of excellent seeing. The camera is a Meade 416xte with a Meade 616 color wheel, all controlled with MaxIm DL/CCD version 3.05. Telescope: Astro-Physics 130 EDFS, with 0.75 reducer, giving a focal length of approximately 585 mm and f4.5. Unguided A-P 1200GTO mount.
LRGB color CCD image (above). The alignment of these L, R, G, and B images is not quite correct. I have to go back and try to get it right.
Images initially stretched with Levels, then aligned and combined in Photoshop. Finally stretched with Curves tool. Comet Ikeya-Zhang and M13 in Hercules (film).
